Corporate Identity #2: Poster Designs

Back in Malaysia where I’ve attended my diploma course, one of my Corporate Identity’s briefs was to design a series of posters that portray the SIngle Minded Proposition (SMP),in which my case, it’s “Embracing Conversation”. The main purpose is to celebrate the 50 Years of Diplomatic Relationship between Malaysia and Switzerland. Using the speech bubble as my main graphic element, below are a series of posters that I’ve designed.

Corporate Identity : Celebrating 50 Years of Diplomatic Relations, Malaysia and Switzerland

The concept of my logo is actually based on the idea of my SMP. The conversation box you send a text to the person on your iphone brings out the communication between one and another. Therefore, with this idea I come out a form for this logo that is connecting to one box to another to show my SMP Embacing Conversation. The colours I have choose is red and blue to represent elegant, confidence, Passion.

DREW : The Man Behind The Poster

DREW: THE MAN BEHIND THE POSTER is a feature-length documentary exploring the life and work of Drew Struzan, the artist who created the posters for some of the most iconic movies of the past 30 years, including “Indiana Jones,” “Back to the Future” and “Star Wars,” among many others. Director Erik P. Sharkey tells the story of this distinctive artist, beginning with his early works in commercial and album cover art for Alice Cooper and Black Sabbath, to his acclaimed career and recent retirement as one of the most recognizable and influential movie poster artists of all time. The film features exlusive interviews with noted filmmakers, artists and critics including George Lucas, Harrison Ford, Michael J. Fox, Frank Darabont, Guillermo del Toro, Steven Spielberg, and many others.

Drew Struzan’s been one of my favourite illustrator ever since I was enrolled into The One Academy back in Malaysia. I came to know about his works through my lecturers. As a student majoring in illustration previously, we were taught to reference Drew Struzan’s techniques and skills.

It’s amazing how Drew’s able to bring the characters in the posters to life by just illustrating them with various techniques and strokes.
